My 2021 Gratitude List
Like many people, I had high hopes for a year that were kind of dashed. Here’s what I pulled from the rubble.
Last year I published a list of things for which I was grateful. It was kinda tough to cobble together that list in the toxic environment of 2020, and let’s be honest… this year isn’t much of an improvement. But it was a valuable exercise nevertheless (you can read through last year’s list here), so I’m doing it again.
A brief note before I start: this is my personal list; it reflects my own unique privilege. I acknowledge the circumstances that created that privilege and that not many others can understand or relate to the privilege that is solely my own.
I’m grateful that, back in April, my test results came back clean and I’m now on annual checkups for cancer recurrence.
I’m grateful that I began stating things I need or want clearly and without equivocation, instead of expecting those around me and/or my loved ones to intuit what I need or want.
I’m grateful for my local library.
I’m grateful that I purchased a pair of sweatpants earlier this year that make me very, very happy when I wear them. They actually have the word “happy” on the leg in rainbow colors.
