From what I understand, there was no legal basis to charge her. She never should have been arrested in the first place. It appears as though this was on overreaction on the part of both the hospital worker and the officials that arrested the woman. She violated no current law, because SB 8 allows for charges against those who help someone get an abortion but not against the person who actually has it.
